(what needs to be done\, by when\, and by whom?)\nWriting down a proposed list of labour needed/work to be done\nWhat information do I already have? They will give examples from productions they’ve worked on\, what they took into account and what top tips they have that have helped them create and manage budgets. \nThey will also share how they work with the Line Producer\, how important these relationships are for the production\, the importance of keeping costs up to date and accurate to ensure the smooth running of the production. \nThe second half of the session\, we will be joined by a Production Accountant to hear how they work with the Production Departments and Line Producers on the financial management of the production. They will share their top tips and the common areas that cause problems and challenges when preparing and running a departmental budget. \nThe final part of the session will look to draw this part of the course together\, to offer the opportunity for students to share thoughts and questions to ensure they leave the course with a clear vision of how they will go forward in preparing budgets. \nPART 2 for HODs\nPart 2 for HODs – 2 hour live ONLINE session\nThese are department-specific sessions and are for HODs only who have completed Part 1. \nThis part is for experienced HODs within Locations\, Art\, Costume and makeup to enable them to further develop their budgeting skills and knowledge. DESCRIPTION:Training (88)\nScreenSkills (76)\nHETV (62)\nFilm (44)\nUnscripted (32)\nExperienced (14)\nFreelancing (14)\nChildren's (14)\nEarly Experienced (10)\nScripted (8)\nCareer stage Early (5)\nFor Approval (5)\nAge +18 (4)\nAre you sitting at home\, curled up on the sofa\, watching brilliant TV drama series and wishing you could find a way you could return to work in HETV?   \nAre you asking yourself how on earth could I find a way back in because you can’t work the same way you used to?  \nAre you lacking confidence in how to approach returning to working in TV?   \nThis FREE-TO-ATTEND\, online Return to Work training programme is here to help you work out how you can find a way back to doing the work you want to do in HETV and importantly in a way that will work for both you and your production.  \nThis course is designed to assist experienced craft and tech freelancers looking to return to work after a career break\, to help you think differently about how you could bring your services to a production. The course will provide you with the tools you need to seek opportunities\, return with confidence\, work successfully as a freelancer\, and re-build a sustainable career in HETV.   \nThe course is taught by Alison Grade and Sarah Mccaffrey who are both experienced industry trainers. In addition to the training course there are up to 6 funded placements available for eligible participants.  \nBy the end of this course\, participants will have the knowledge and confidence to return to HETV.  \nWe are looking to help people who: \nHave been out of the screen industries for 9+ monthsHave previous track record working in scripted TV (approx. 5+ years) with some experience within HETVAre looking to gain insight into the current HETV workplaceAre wanting to rebuild confidenceAre looking to reconnect and rebuild networksAre preparing or thinking about returning to work in HETVWant to make work\, work for themIf you are thinking about returning to HETV following a break from TV and you work in a craft or tech department but not sure where to start then this course is for you.  \n Applications will be assessed on a rolling basis.  \nWe welcome applications from all individuals\, if you would like support completing the application form and/or would like us to send it to you in an alternative format please email training@mission.guru.  \n  \n Delivery team  Our Funders This training is supported by the ScreenSkills High-end TV Skills Fund with contributions from UK high-end TV productions. \nWHO IS THE COURSE FOR?\nThis Return to work programme is designed to assist experienced craft and tech freelancers in the industry looking to return to work after a career break and provide them with the tools they need to seek opportunities\, return with confidence\, work successfully as a freelancer\, and re-build a sustainable career in HETV.  \nThe sessions will be highly interactive\, and all participants will be encouraged to contribute to the discussions. Reflection time will also be included within the sessions to cement learning.  \nThis programme is aimed to help those who have:  \n\n\nCostume \nHair and Make-up \nArt department \nLocations \nCameras \nSound \n\n\nWe will be looking to recruit 12 participants from across the following grades:  \n\n\nBeen out of the screen industries for 9+ months \nprevious track record working in scripted TV (approx. 5+ years) with some experience in HETV \n\n\nCOURSE DATES\nThis course will be fully online both group sessions and individual 1-2-1 coaching sessions. At the end of the course we plan to arrange an in-person event to meet other participants across this and our other return to work course alongside industry professionals and those looking to crew up.  \nIn addition to the group sessions\, each participant will have 5 hours of 1-2-1 support. 3 of these will be with one of our course tutors between the group sessions with an initial one before the first in-person day. This free-to-attend course has been designed to fast-track industry professionals with relevant experience\, who are ready to 'step up' and become Script Supervisors.  \n This course is open to those living and/or regularly working in Northern Ireland who have a minimum of 2 years' professional experience and at least 2 relevant credits.   \nIf you are someone who wants to be close to the action on set\, likes to work independently\, relishes responsibility and has:  \nFantastic attention to detailStrong organisational and administration skillsAn analytical brain and a knack for solving problemsAdvanced diplomacy skillsResilience and staminaThe ability to remain calm under pressure…. then Script Supervisor might be the role for you!   \nLed by a highly experienced Script Supervisor\, this training course will enable 6 participants to gain the necessary skills\, knowledge and confidence to step up into the role. Whether you are in the early stages of your career or stepping up to manage team members\, this course is tailored to assist you in further developing your communication and time management abilities. \nWhether you work in production office or as crew\, you understand first-hand how crucial it is to communicate clearly\, and to effectively manage your time. Effective communication is essential\, especially when conveying complex messages and managing regular changes. Proper time management ensures that projects run smoothly and efficiently\, minimizing delays and maximizing productivity. \nThis course aims to support 20 HETV professionals in enhancing their communication and time management strategies. The course is broken down into a series of modules covering different aspects of communication and time management. \nThe training style is interactive with scenarios and role plays\, alongside taught materials. The modules will cover: \nCommunication StylesPrioritisationDelegationGiving and Receiving FeedbackNegotiation SkillsDealing with Difficult PeopleMotivation through CommunicationSelf and team careApplications Closed The course is open to those living and/or regularly working in Northern Ireland who have a minimum of one years’ professional experience and at least one HETV production team credit. \nThis course is free to attend. \nPlease note that the duration of this training is split across two days and will take place in-person in Belfast. Eligible applicants will already be living and/or working in Northern Ireland so participants will be responsible for arranging their travel to and from the venue and\, if necessary\, any accommodation. In order to make this course accessible to the widest possible audience\, there is some limited support available to contribute to these costs. Evidence of hardship will be requested. \n \nWHO IS THE COURSE FOR?\nWHO IS THE COURSE FOR?  \nThis training course is aimed at those who are working in the production office or as part of crew in HETV. You will have a minimum of one year's experience and could be working in any HETV department. \nWe also wish to encourage those looking to return to work following a career break who have HETV experience and would like to refresh their skills and knowledge. \nCOURSE DATES\nThe training will take place in person over a weekend. She is an experienced Line Producer and Production Manager as well as a Nesta Accredited Creative Enterprise Trainer. She regularly delivers training that enables creatives to take their careers to the next level. \n\nAddie Orfila | Course Tutor \nAddie has extensive production experience spanning over 25 years including ITV\, All3Media and BBC. Starting as a trainee\, Addie worked her way up as 3rd AD\, 1st AD\, PM and Head of Production. She has worked on all four of the big UK serial dramas and was HoP at Hollyoaks and Production Manager at Coronation Street. Having worked on shows such as Heartbeat\, Touch of Frost\, Countdown\, My Parents are Aliens\, Emmerdale\, Barking and Jinx\, Addie has a wealth of experience to draw from\, is a mentor for Women in Film and Television\, was a member of Channel 4's Mentoring Diversity Network as well as trainer on the pan-industry Project Diamond Diversity monitoring scheme. Training sessions will take place on weekdays during standard office hours. The schedule includes: \n\n4 x 3-hour online sessions (including an array of guest speakers)\n2 x in-person training days (Birmingham)\n1-2-1 session with the course leader\n6-month work placement as a Development AP – with partial salary support from the ScreenSkills Unscripted Skills Fund.\n\nWe’re looking to recruit 20 delegates based across the UK. \nThis programme is aimed at those who have demonstrable experience working in unscripted TV development at Development AP or Development Researcher level. You could be a newly appointed Development AP\, eager to hone their skills and build confidence\, or an experienced Development Researcher\, ready to step up into a Development AP position. \nYou can access this course in two ways:\n\nIndependent Route: If you’re a freelancer or between contracts\, you can apply for one of our dedicated placement opportunities. She regularly delivers training that enables creatives to take their careers to the next level. Alison is the author of Penguin published book\, The Freelance Bible and offers many workshops and training programmes to support freelancers. \nSophie Morgan | Course Trainer  \nShe is an experienced TV and multi-platform content creator\, screenwriter and development consultant with over twenty-years working as award-winning creative director\, commissioning editor and BAFTA-nominated producer. Working in the UK and US\, she has developed\, and exec produced hundreds of hours of TV content including Britain's Next Top Model\, RuPaul's Drag Race\, London Ink and Jade. \nIn 2021 she founded multi-platform ideation and development consultancy Pontariva Media with the aim of adding value to production companies\, multiplatform content studios and broadcasters like Channel 4 and Sky. They do this by helping them devise more ambitious\, omni platform content and find innovative ways to exploit IP\, use emerging technology and design new funding models.  \nShe also devises and delivers industry training on topics including Gen AI\, agile leadership\, industry diversification and best creative practice and runs regular workshops for ScreenSkills and Creative Enterprise as well as the NFTS and Warwick University. She chairs several industry panels for Broadcast's AI summits and is a neurodiversity advocate and mentor.
