Whether you are in the early stages of your career or stepping up to manage team members\, this course is tailored to assist you in further developing your communication and time management abilities. \nWhether you work in production office or as crew\, you understand first-hand how crucial it is to communicate clearly\, and to effectively manage your time. Effective communication is essential\, especially when conveying complex messages and managing regular changes. Proper time management ensures that projects run smoothly and efficiently\, minimizing delays and maximizing productivity. \nThis course aims to support 20 HETV professionals in enhancing their communication and time management strategies. The course is broken down into a series of modules covering different aspects of communication and time management. \nThe training style is interactive with scenarios and role plays\, alongside taught materials. The modules will cover: \nCommunication StylesPrioritisationDelegationGiving and Receiving FeedbackNegotiation SkillsDealing with Difficult PeopleMotivation through CommunicationSelf and team careApplications Closed The course is open to those living and/or regularly working in Northern Ireland who have a minimum of one years’ professional experience and at least one HETV production team credit. \nThis course is free to attend. \nPlease note that the duration of this training is split across two days and will take place in-person in Belfast. Eligible applicants will already be living and/or working in Northern Ireland so participants will be responsible for arranging their travel to and from the venue and\, if necessary\, any accommodation. In order to make this course accessible to the widest possible audience\, there is some limited support available to contribute to these costs. Evidence of hardship will be requested. \n \nWHO IS THE COURSE FOR?\nWHO IS THE COURSE FOR?  \nThis training course is aimed at those who are working in the production office or as part of crew in HETV. You will have a minimum of one year's experience and could be working in any HETV department. \nWe also wish to encourage those looking to return to work following a career break who have HETV experience and would like to refresh their skills and knowledge. \nCOURSE DATES\nThe training will take place in person over a weekend. She is an experienced Line Producer and Production Manager as well as a Nesta Accredited Creative Enterprise Trainer. She regularly delivers training that enables creatives to take their careers to the next level. \n\nAddie Orfila | Course Tutor \nAddie has extensive production experience spanning over 25 years including ITV\, All3Media and BBC. Starting as a trainee\, Addie worked her way up as 3rd AD\, 1st AD\, PM and Head of Production. She has worked on all four of the big UK serial dramas and was HoP at Hollyoaks and Production Manager at Coronation Street. Having worked on shows such as Heartbeat\, Touch of Frost\, Countdown\, My Parents are Aliens\, Emmerdale\, Barking and Jinx\, Addie has a wealth of experience to draw from\, is a mentor for Women in Film and Television\, was a member of Channel 4's Mentoring Diversity Network as well as trainer on the pan-industry Project Diamond Diversity monitoring scheme. Good ideas keep TV schedules full\, viewers engaged and production companies in business. But where do they come from?   \nWith an acute shortage of new development researchers\, it's more important than ever for the next generation of talent to find their feet in the world of unscripted development. Blending self-directed learning with live Zoom training\, followed by a 1-month industry placement\, this Unscripted: Development Researcher course will prepare you to hit the ground running in your first job as a Development Researcher.   \nLed by Development Executive and Series Producer\, Perjit Aujla\, the course focuses on the essential skills needed to work in development.  \nCourse content will cover creative and ideation skills needed to generate exciting programme ideas\, to editing and software skills needed to pitch them to commissioners. To support you in setting up sustainable development careers\, the content will include vital communication skills which employers are looking for\, and guidance on making yourself as employable as can be.  \nFollowing the course\, trainees who complete the training will be given a placement within the development team of an unscripted production company. Testing your new skills and knowledge in a real company environment will consolidate what you learn and get you some industry connections along the way!  \nUnscripted: Development Researcher is open to a total of 60 people and will run with three cohorts. On applying\, you will be asked to confirm your preference of dates and you are expected to be available for the duration of your chosen set.  \nWHO IS THE COURSE FOR?  \nThis course is aimed at those who want a career in unscripted and who:  \n\nAre 18+ and not in full-time education. \nHave approximately 2+ years of work experience in ANY industry. \nHave demonstrable interest in a career in development. \n\nYou do not need to have worked in TV or development before to apply for this course.  \nWe welcome applications for those looking to return to work following a career break.  \nThis course is free to attend.   \nTo ensure this training is accessible to the widest possible audience\, the training will take place online and outside of standard office hours. The training is designed to suit all levels within development teams and will include specific breakouts for Heads of Development.  \nThe summits are running 5 times between February and June 2023 across the UK nations and regions. All summits will be delivering the same content. Attendees are recommended to book the summit closest to their location.  \nThe summits will be taking place in these locations on the following dates (precise venues TBC): \nEngland: Leeds 27 – 28 February 2023 Wales: Cardiff 13 – 14 March 2023Scotland: Glasgow 11 – 12 May 2023 Northern Ireland: Belfast 22 – 23 May 2023 England: London 5 – 6 June 2023 The two-day programme will be split into a series of short sessions covering 3 distinct themes:  \n\nTheme 1: Ideation\, Briefs and Pitching \nTheme 2: Commercial awareness \nTheme 3: Professional skills (with a focus on Heads of Development and Senior team members) \n\nA key theme across the entire training programme will be changing the narrative on and off-screen and how these can be embedded across all areas\, at all stages.   \nThe two-day programme will also include a Commissioning Editor Q&A which will be an opportunity to hear from a commissioner in-person in a structured Q&A format.  \nOn the middle evening of the training programme there will be a social event where attendees can connect and network informally to build relationships.   \nThis programme is heavily supported and subsidised by the ScreenSkills Unscripted TV Skills Fund which invests in training for the unscripted workforce thanks to contributions from broadcasters\, SVoDs and production companies.  \nThere is a cost to production companies to attend this training programme.
